All things considered

In this post I would like to share with you some ideas I am considering and will share with my team on style. I thinking the style is our approach toward the topic and how and who we interview (focus). Though our case study is mainly Dr. Bennett and his mentoring school we will also bring in people from the schools to interview that are laid out in his website (i.e. the lay person, those considering ministry roles, and current ministers). Also a good idea is to take a range of attenders from newest to oldest members. Now that only covers the school it self, but we also need to brainstorm on outsiders, oh yeah and the wives among other women. I think even the workers at McDaniel's Farm restaurant will be good to get their views on the school meeting there. I was even considering going to surrounding churches from plants to already established churches, to see their reactions. I can go on and on, but we will come together on this Thursday and beat these ideas out.

We plan on shooting the day and the life of Dr. B and the school itself among other events. Also maybe hit up other mentoring groups and take some stuff from PSA's and so on like the ones below. I do like the street interviewing one a lot, but I hope we can create an engaging and not so traditional way of doing our doc. I think it is pretty straight forward, but in post we can still keep the traditional look, but with a new approach, I don't know for sure yet, but that's the point of just brainstorming this out. The most important part is preparation and making sure we can keep in mind a whole range of questions and so on to stay away from being a promotional video. But I feel deeply that we should have a firm look at Dr. B, because I believe he is an important subject even outside of mentoring, heck who knows we may change from mentoring to total focus on him in a portrait like Armor of God. There are so many possibility's, but I think we are pretty much set, I am just playing with options and ideas. I do know one thing, that I will be adding more footage beyond this class in May. I think now I will stay focused on mentoring, and include more on Dr. B along the way for something separate. Hey, who says we can't knock out two birds with one stone, as long as I don't wear out my team. But I will not ask to much of them, nor will I ask them anything that I will not be willing to do.

The team is also aware that if and when they go out of town to get as much footage and research as they can to Borden our boarders. But I am excited and think this is a very interesting subject. I have gone on a search to find documentaries on this subject and have not "yet". But I have found books and a few websites and those PSA's, and my search continues. This subject is so important I believe to all walks of life, not just having a mentor, but to be a mentor. More to come, look out.

From the sunny side,
TC

Travis, a portrait of Dr. B could also be very exciting. I say let this take you wherever it leads you. If the portrait is what excites your team, then go that way!

As I commented to one of your partners, a good side story would be inregards to his family. How has the mentoring change not only his life but his family life and whether or not they see a difference in who he is because of this.

Nice post, I was curious however if you are going to take the mentoring view and add the christian ideals or any philosophy into it. Obviously there will be some just because of the focus of the doc, but I guess this isn't so much as a recommendation as it is a question. Will it solely be on mentoring and just happens to be a minister. Or is it looking to infuse christian values into the doc? Adios.

I think it would be interesting to get other opitions from different churches, also maybe look at different denominations, or even different religions to see if there is something like this in them.

You seem to have a lot of aspirations for your project! I'm excited to learn more about it. It seems like your entire group is really into the project, so I don't think that you guys will get worn out on getting the coverage that you need.
