Well this week has been extremely busy as will next week. I was able to organize some interviews for the next few weeks. We were suppose to interview Dr. B and Thad this week, but things fell through and we will do those interviews next Friday. Thad is a big help in getting things I need and he understands what I am doing and he is really helping us out a lot. I emailed him a personal letter to explain what our intentions where and what we need and so forth and he was glad to respond and support in any way possible. Just this morning at 4 something all three of us woke up to arrive at Middle and McDaniel's Restaurant to video Ms. Mary and Terrell open up and get the place ready. We also videoed Dr. B and Thad getting set up and all of the cars arriving. After we finished that Matt and I got inside B-roll and plenty of it while Jake did the outside. The guys left and I stayed behind and after the meeting I decided to shoot some more of Dr. B eating and a prettier shot of the outside with the sun hitting the restaurant. I am now trying to get at least one interview with Jeffery (he is also writing the song for our film) tomorrow, but I will have to keep you posted on that one. I am doing this to recover from the loss of the other interviews.
We have made some major decisions and are mainly trying to shoot the people we can get locally and easily first. We need these interviews any way and can easily obtain them now rather than trying to kill each others schedules to do more difficult filming days. I think this is the best strategy for now, especially since I am determined to continue on with this after May when I and the others will have more time to travel or do odd days. As of right now we are forced to do Thursdays - Saturday shoots and this also works for the local interviewee's. And after reviewing Shannon's notes and seeing how some things seemed a bit hazy on what type of doc we were doing, I plan on clearing it up with our new synopsis. We are going to focus on a portrait of Dr. B as a mentor. The whole team even agrees with this and this is the true heart of our doc. Our challenge or mine at least is to remain objective and to show the conflict. After much discussion and dissecting, I believe the biggest conflict comes with Dr. B and his wife Doris and her health issues and him having to leave town like he does. I believe that is where his heart is and there in lies our story. Ambition is defiantly my weakness, I want to do so much I have a hard time focusing, but that is where my team steps in and helps. So guys keep it up and challenge me, we can't do it all at once.
Now I am off with Amber to get some good 'ol "fried" food and sweet tea.

Good work guys. Keep listening to eachother. Focus your film on what you care about communicating the most and really come out with the best 10-15 minute project you could possibly make. That said...be sure not to take the easy route with scheduling. You don't want to kill yourselves, but you don't want to underchallenge yourselves either. If you need an interview for this short piece do everything in your power to get it.
