Hey, sorry for not blogging for the past two Fridays. I was gone to Disney two weeks ago during Easter with Amber. And this past weekend I was at Full Frame Film Festival. We have basically put in writing what were we are going with this doc and looked at what we need. We are going to look at Dr. B in his public life and his private life and the balance between the two and how he overcomes struggles of his two worlds. Our last in class preview of some of our work was much better than the first and people agree they like staying on him. I believe this is important for such a short doc any how, especially since this is where our greatest interest is any way. I also found a doc entitled "Journey of the Heart: Henri Nouwen". I believe it really suits what we are doing, but it is on a very long wait at Netflix, so I will try to find it else where. I will still watch it regardless if it is after graduation or not.
While I was at the festival I wanted to achieve two things for our doc outside of the other reasons for going. First I got some B-roll of Duke Universities Chapel and other parts of campus. I new this would be good B-roll because Dr. B talks about his time at Duke. Second, I wanted to critic the docs at the festival and take back some knowledge from the panels along with my critics. I got some real good ideas from B-roll use to content and how other portraits were done and what has not been done. All I can say is I know I am a filmmaker and I love all aspects of film. I also would like to share how some of these docs opened my mind and heart even more toward the issues in Africa. Amber and I have always had a heart for world missions and I have especially had a interest in Africa and even adopting from there. China and Africa are in such turmoil and the way orphans and people in general are treated is unreal and the HIV/Aids epidemic is a huge concern too. Well not to go into to much, I am now considering changing plans and taking roots in Africa (it was always kinda of in me anyway), but this will take much preparation, educating and prayer. Though I may not agree with all things said in some of these docs or there methods, I do agree that some action needs to take place. I hope that when I share these thoughts and concerns with my family and church it will motivate others to take action or jump on things that concern them and make a difference. I will continue to work on this doc too, and other ideas I have, but I need to at least start something now toward this matter of my heart.
Well enough said for now, I will post some photos and all for you later, but first I've got to get them to Shannon.
Peace,
TC

Full Frame was so awesome. I did the same thing. Kept watching to see what worked and what didnt from a filmmaking perspecitve, while also making so many new plans as a human being.
